Berlin Photos
Welcome to my Berlin Photos section. I find Berlin one of the most fascinating cities I have visited. Although the wall no longer separates East from West, the remains are still clearly visible. Parts of the city have survived the World War II destruction while other parts, sometimes cleared to build the wall, were desolated areas in the early 1990s after the reunification. A good example is Potsdamer Platz which has reinvented itself and is now a modern and beautiful square.
My collection of Photos tries to capture the contrasts that make the city unforgettable. I’m mostly focussed on the former Eastern part of the city with Unter den Linden, Alexander Platz and Potsdamer Platz all having a prominent place.

More about Berlin
Berlin is a city where history can still be felt on almost every street. It began as a small trading settlement along the River Spree before growing into the capital of Prussia and later the German Empire. Over time, Berlin became a centre of politics, science, art, and culture, attracting thinkers, artists, and innovators from across Europe.
The city experienced huge change during the 20th century. After World War I, Berlin became famous for its creative energy during the 1920s, with lively cafés, theatres, and groundbreaking art movements shaping its identity. But this vibrant era was followed by the rise of Nazi Germany and the devastation of World War II, which left much of the city destroyed.
Perhaps the most defining chapter in Berlin’s story came during the Cold War. After 1945, the city was divided into East and West Berlin, separated by the Berlin Wall from 1961 until 1989. Families, friends, and entire communities were cut apart for nearly three decades. When the wall finally fell, it became a global symbol of freedom and reunification.
Berlin Photos
Today, Berlin is known for turning its difficult history into something meaningful. Historic landmarks stand beside modern architecture, former industrial spaces have become creative hubs, and reminders of the past exist alongside one of Europe’s most dynamic cultural scenes. This unique mix of resilience, creativity, and constant transformation is what makes Berlin endlessly fascinating to explore and photograph.
